Our chemical peels are characterized by light to moderate penetration of the outer layers of damaged skin, with minimal to no discomfort and minimal to no risk of scarring or downtime. Deep chemical peels performed by our plastic surgeon offer the most dramatic change to your skin and are suitable for extremely damaged skin. However, the downtime associated with the deep peels is not for everyone. The medical –grade chemical peels performed by our licensed aestheticians give a meaningful change without the lengthy downtime.
What is
a
chemical
peel?
Alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), betahydroxy acids (BHAs) light or "lunch-hour" peels include glycolic, lactic, and fruit acid peels (AHA) or salicylic acid (BHA). Chemical peels improve the texture of sun-damaged skin, brighten your complexion, minimize pore size, balance skin pigmentation, and diminish some types of acne scars. They burn off only the outer layers of the skin to smooth out fine wrinkles and/or rough, dry skin.
How is a
chemical
peel
performed?
All chemical peels involve applying a chemical solution to remove the outer layers of skin so that a smoother, more evenly pigmented, glowing layer of skin can appear. It helps stimulate the production of new skin cells. They are often repeated every few weeks for 4-6 sessions to achieve the desired results.
Chemical peels may be combined with our other laser treatments to optimize your results, depending on your specific concerns.
What can
be
expected
during
and
after a
chemical
peel?
Typically, one can expect a small degree of slight stinging during the procedure, which lasts 2 to 10 minutes. Afterwards, chemical peels generally cause some flaking, redness and dryness, or skin irritation. These side effects diminish over time. Once the body heals itself naturally, the outer layer of skin will fall away.

Medical Microdermabrasion
Rejuvenate Your Skin
With
“Lunchtime
Peel".
This non-surgical exfoliating procedure smoothes and softens your skin. It can be used on light or dark skin and positive results can be achieved on the face, neck, chest, arms, elbows, and knees. The procedure entails virtually no discomfort, downtime, or recovery. Rediscover your skin’s healthy glow. Microdermabrasion is successfully indicated for exfoliating dead skin cells for smoother healthier skin.
How long
does the
treatment
take?
A single procedure takes between 30 and 60 minutes and should be repeated at intervals of 2 to 4 weeks depending on skin type and condition. After the procedure, there is a slight blushing of the skin, which disappears within one or two hours.
Is it
safe?
Yes. Microdermabrasion is a safe, non-surgical approach to skin rejuvenation that has been performed for years in Europe and has gained popularity in the United States in the last decade.
Is it
painful?
Most patients report mild or no discomfort during the procedure. The settings are adjustable and we will perform the procedure at a level that is comfortable for the patient. Please let your aesthetician know if any treatment is too uncomfortable. Your skin may appear a little pink and be a little hot immediately following treatment.
How soon
will I
see
results?
Many patients experience softer, smoother glowing skin after the first treatment. The recommended treatment plan is between two and twelve treatments, depending on the condition and type of your skin and the results desired.
Can I
combine
Microdermabrasion
with
other
procedures?
Yes. Microdermabrasion is the perfect compliment to other procedures including Laser Toning or FotoFacial™. In your consultation discuss what results you’d like to see and your consultant will outline the best treatment plan.

production.
For more severe forms of acne, or if excessive oil production is a major contributing factor, a topical photosensitizing agent called aminolevulonic acid (Levulan®) may be added to the BLU-U® light treatments. This Photodynamic Therapy or PDT acts in three different ways to combat acne: while inactivating bacteria, it also shuts down sebaceous glands, and unclogs pores by exfoliating skin, with the additional benefit of re-texturizing the skin to smooth the appearance of acne scarring. By addressing these root causes of acne, long-term to permanent reduction of acne is obtained.
What causes acne?
Acne is an inflammatory process resulting from abnormal desquamation of the sebaceous glands (oil glands) in the skin. The combination of oil and dead skin cells clogging the pore creates the perfect environment for a certain type of bacteria to proliferate. Clogged pores, along with the presence of bacteria, encourage an inflammatory process in the skin resulting in the red, pustular appearance of acne.
How long does the treatment take?
The affected area sits under the blue light for about 30 minutes twice a week for a minimum of 4-5 weeks.
How long do the results last?
Clinical studies reveal that with Levulan, the effects of the BLU-U® Photodynamic Therapy Acne Treatment can last anywhere from 1 to 3 years for teenagers and a lifetime for adults.
